Vinyl’s From The Past: 16:47 to 26:51
We are going to take a brief break for “Vinyl’s From The Past”. In this limited run segment I will be exploring the pioneers that have shaped and influenced the EDM we have today. In this episode we will be featuring Steve “Silk” Hurley. Steve “Silk” Hurley is a DJ, Producer and Remixer based out of Chicago. He is considered not only a founder but a pioneer of the Chicago House sound. In the early 80’s he started DJing and he was one of the first to use a drum machine and sampler to create his own remixes and edits. In 1986 Steve released a groundbreaking track “Jack Your Body”. “Jack Your Body” was released on Underground Records. It became a massive hit in the UK reaching number one. This track also helped popularize the Chicago house music scene and established Steve as a major figure in the house music scene. Hard Summer is coming back to Los Angeles. The festival began in 2008 and has been considered one of the most significant EDM events.
