Vinyl’s From The Past: 13:47 to 20:05
I am going to take a brief break for Vinyl’s From The Past. In this limited run series, I will be exploring the pioneers that have shaped and influenced the EDM we have today. In this episode I will be featuring “Technotronic”.

In 1987, Jo Bogaert and Manuela Kamosi created “Technotronic” a musical project that featured Fashion Model Kilingi as their visual front. Ya Kid K was the stage name used by Kamosi when performing with the group. In 1989 the group released “Pump Up the Jam” which became an international hit. Take a listen to it here.

“Pump Up the Jam” was originally an instrumental track but was remixed with Kamosi lyrics. This track was highly praised for bringing together the elements of American house, European dance music and hip hop. As a result, it had a significant impact on the production of popular dance songs in the 90’s. Over the years, many musicians have sampled or remixed this work, as well as incorporating it into various films, video games and television programs. That’s it for this Vinyl’s from the past now, let’s get back to the music.

News Break 2: 27:00 to 27:48
I am going to take a brief break for some music news.

Calvin Harris and Sam Smith have reunited for their first collaboration in five years. The name of their latest track is “Desire”. The track was played live during one of Harris residency sets in Ushuaïa Ibiza. The last time these two collaborated was on the 2018 hit “Promises”.

In other news

Sascha Lord founder of Parklife Festival and Warehouse Project in the UK, is suing the UK government for enforcing permit requirements for festivals that want to run on site drug checking. The permit cost is three pounds. On site drug checking services have been common in the UK festival scene since 2014 due to overdoses. These testing’s have curbed this but now are in jeopardy due to the new permit requirement.

That’s it for this news break, now let’s get back to the news.
